Things to Consider

Ultrasonic Antifouling, Things to Consider

Biofouling Growth Rate

Your Current Growth rate is something to take into consideration when choosing which model of CleanABoat.com Advanced Ultrasonic Antifouling. If your vessel is moored in tropical waters it may have a much faster growth rate than that of a more frigid water climate. The different aquatic ecology of your area may require the purchase of a Dual Transducer model even though your vessel is less than 10m of in water hull length. This extra Transducer can also be of benefit to Vessels with large Stern Drives, allowing a transducer to be mounted as far back as possible in the boat to get as much protection into the stern drive or prop area and a second 1/3rd of the way up the boat.

Hull Construction

It is important to understand the construction method used on your vessel’s hull. Namely issues can arrise with the improper installation of our Ultrasonic Antifouling system on foam cored or balsa cored GRP/Composite construction methods. It is definitely possible and very effective on these types of hull constructions when installed correctly by removing the top and foam/balsa layers to gain transducer access directly with the outer hull layer. For more information on this method of installation please feel free to contact us. If you are unsure of your hull construction you can either contact us with vessel details or your manufacturer for hull specifications.
