You can use the below information to determine, based on the in water hull length, the Ultrasonic Antifouling system you will require and the positioning of the Transducer(s).

In order to determine the system required we use the in water hull length of your vessel, if you are unsure as to what this is you can measure your waterline length to determine this.

CleanABoat Advanced Ultrasonic System is available in two unit’s a Double output module and Quad output module. If you decide to purchase a Single unit, you can upgrade to a Double at any time by purchasing an additional Ultrasonic Transducer from CleanABoat.com.

See our Installation Manual here

For Vessels up to 10m in water hull length we recommend the use of a Double Transducer System (If your vessel is less than 6m a Single System will work fine). The Transducers are mounted in strategic locations to ensure the best protection. Our Double Transducer system comes with everything required to install into your vessel, including;
  • Advanced Ultrasonic Antifouling Control Module (Double output)
  • 2 x Transducers with plenty of cable length
  • 2 x Mounting Rings, for bonding to the inside of the hull
  • Bonding Epoxy
  • Installation Manual.

The Image above gives an indication of the suggested location of each transducer. If the vessel is a stern drive then the rear transducer should simply be shifted back towards the transom. The installation manual outlines more details on transducer locations and information on the installation of the system.

What if you have a Catamaran?
Catamarans require double that of a monohull design. As there is two hulls to protect. IE if you have a Catamaran that is up to 10m of in hull water line length then you would require Double the transducers. Mounting each Transducer in the same position in each hull. feel free to contact us if you have any concerns or questions about your configuration.

For Vessels up to 20m in water hull length we recommend the use of a Quad Transducer System. The Transducers are mounted in strategic locations to ensure the best protection. Our Quad Transducer system comes with everything required to install into your vessel, including;
  • Advanced Ultrasonic Antifouling Control Module Quad Output)
  • 4 x Transducers with plenty of cable length
  • 4 x Mounting Rings, for bonding to the inside of the hull
  • Bonding Epoxy
  • Installation Manual.

The Image above gives an indication of the suggested location of each transducer. If the vessel is stern drive or IPS then the rear transducer should simply be shifted back towards the transom or over slightly so as to not be too close to the pod of an IPS. The installation manual outlines more details on transducer locations and information on the installation of the system and is available below.

Power Boat 20m + in water hull length - Multiple Units
As Vessels grow to over 20m of in hull water length so does the beam(width) of the vessel, and it’s depth of hull in the water. This and more factors must be taken into consideration when choosing how many transducers are necessary for adequate protection. We have found that anything over 20m of in water hull length usually requires extra transducers to offer a high level of hull protection. Feel free to contact us with your specification and we will work with you to come up with a solution no matter the size of the vessel.

But How does it work?

Ultrasonic Antifouling works by broadcasting a specially tunned range of frequencies outside of the audible human range through the hull of your vessel. Our special mounting method gives the ultrasonic transducers excellent transferance to the hull and allows these ultrasound waves to resonate throughout making the hull into a single large ultrasonic driver of sorts. These ultrasonic frequency waves create an inhabitable location for bio fouling organisms, preventing your hulls fouling.
